Easy Run

I am just starting to add distance to my runs.  An easy run is running 1:30-2:00 slower than your desired pace time. The crazy thing about "easy runs" is they are difficult.  I have a hard time going slowly because it feels like I am running in the mud or something.

Workout:
10 minutes--AMT--warm-up
60 minutes--treadmill--6.75 miles--about 9 minute miles

Why Are Easy Runs Important?
I found this graphic on runneracademy.com that explains some of the benefits of easy runs. Click the link to read the article that gives an explanation for each bubble.

  1. I've been loving reading your blog Mary! Can you explain what AMT is? Just curious. I love that your 'slow' mile is 9 minutes! That's so crazy! I've been running for about 2 months now and am staying pretty steady at 11 minute miles. Hoping to get better though!

  2. The AMT machine is a combination elliptical, stair stepper, and strider. You can change your stride length to mimic all of these machines. A picture of the AMT is on my Oct. 23 post. Thanks for reading.
